Green Teas

Our green teas are made exclusively with the leaves of Camellia Sinensis, and have been subjected to minimal oxidation during processing.

Green teas offer a more subtle range of flavors, and are often higher in flavonoids than many fresh fruits and vegetable juices.

	Japan Sencha	Details
	A smooth tea with a good deal of depth and body from a sencha style steamed tea. Light in colour, but rich and full in taste. Japan produces some of the best green teas in the world and only exports 1-2 per cent of its total production. The primary producing area in Japan is the Shizuoka prefecture west south west of Tokyo. The famous bullet train to Osaka zooms through the tea growing area after leaving Shinjuku station and it’s not uncommon to see the mechanical plucking machines plucking the best green tea in the world as you race by. Decorative sugar cookies or small cakes are ideal with Japanese Sencha and you can imagine being at a tea ceremony.

	Kapchorua (Kenya)	Details
	A delightful tea with floral notes. Consistently full-bodied and highly flavory. A unique green tea. The beautiful Kapchorua estate lies to the west of the Great Rift Valley, high on the eastern slopes of the Nandi hills. The close by Tinderet forest teems with monkeys, exotic birds and crystal clear springs. The plantation is bisected by the Timobo River a prime tributary of Lake Victoria, which helps irrigate the tea gardens. For its high quality, the estate is recognized by the Fair Trade Labeling Organization and the Ethical Tea Partnership for outstanding production. Try an almond or lemon biscotti to bring out the flavour in this tea.

	Lucky Dragon Hyson	Details
	A pale yellow green infusion, giving a light tasting, non-smokey flavour. One of the best green teas we’ve tasted. Produced from steamed green tea from the Zhejiang Province of China and even though produced in the young hyson style it is much better than typical young hyson. We would pair this with a lemon cream cookie.
